HOOD Calorie Countdown’s Blogger Cookoff!

on May 20, 2018 |

As ya’ll know, I have partnered with HOOD Calorie Countdown to share with all of you the wonderful benefits and flavors HOOD has to offer. I have been so fortunate to taste all of the wonderful HOOD Calorie Countdown options. Hopefully, ya’ll have had an opportunity to run to Walmart or Publix to grab a carton and experiment in your own kitchen endeavors too.               HOOD Calorie Countdown is a great tasting lower calorie and lower sugar substitution for milk in all of your favorite recipes. Calorie Countdown offers 33% less calories and 75% less sugars than regular milk. I believe I have said it before, but HOOD Calorie Countdown is my family’s absolute favorite in the dairy beverage choices.       I was so excited to help HOOD Calorie Countdown host their first ever, blogger cookoff competition. HOOD invited some of Florida’s popular, food bloggers to learn about HOOD and compete in a cookoff. There were 2 major requirements, bring your best recipe and feature Calorie Countdown as a main ingredient. The winner of the 60 minute cookoff would go home with a $500 Walmart gift card.                                     The smells in the kitchen were so amazing. I wish you could scratch and sniff each of these photos! It was so much fun to wander around the cookoff and speak with each of the competing bloggers. I loved being on the other side of a cooking competition, granted, I am usually the one sweating bullets over the oven. Visiting each competitor, asking questions about their recipes, and getting to taste all of the yummy dishes were beyond invigorating for me. I really enjoyed seeing all of the creative and tasty ways HOOD Calorie Countdown was incorporated into very different dishes. I will also say, I was very happy that I was not asked to be the judge! I honestly do NOT know how Liz Ward, nutritionist from HOOD, was able to chose just one winner.                             In honor of the HOOD Calorie Countdown Cookoff, I will be hosting a $50 Walmart...

I am so excited to share that I have partnered up with HOOD Calorie Countdown! I absolutely LOVE HOOD Dairy products, especially Calorie Countdown. As many of you know, I struggle with diet-controlled diabetes. I was so happy when I discovered this amazing low-carb and low calorie dairy product!       The taste and consistency of HOOD Calorie Countdown makes for an easy substitution for milk in sweet and savory dishes….and I am totally guilty of chugging this wonderful dairy beverage before bed.       My family has made a huge, life transition to a 40-acre farm. In our new lifestyle, I am trying to incorporate more farm-to-table meals and desserts. No additive growth hormones is a huge selling point in any food or drink I purchase. All HOOD Calorie Countdown varieties are made with milk that farmers pledge to refrain from using AGHs.       My all-time favorite Calorie Countdown flavor is 2% Reduced Fat Chocolate. You can also find Calorie Countdown in 2% Reduced Fat, Fat-Free, and recently Whole. This great tasting dairy beverage has 33% fewer calories and 75% less sugar than whole milk.         My daughters are huge muffin fans, especially for a tender, chocolate muffin. I challenged myself to create a lower calorie/lower sugar Double Chocolate Muffin recipe by substituting buttermilk and whole chocolate milk with HOOD Calorie Countdown 2% Reduced Fat Chocolate. The unknowing taste-testers, my daughters, had NO knowledge of the changes I made to my originally famous Double Chocolate Muffins…which can only mean complete success. So, get your shopping lists ready and head to Walmart, where you can purchase HOOD Calorie Countdown Dairy Beverage and start baking!       HOOD Calorie Countdown Double Chocolate Muffins   Ingredients: ½ cup unsalted butter, softened ¾ cup sugar 2 eggs ¼ cup dark cocoa powder 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract 1 cup HOOD Calorie Countdown 2% Reduced Fat Chocolate 1 ¼ cups all purpose flour 2 teaspoons baking powder ½ teaspoon salt ½ cup mini chocolate chips         Directions: Preheat oven to 400 degrees and line a muffin tin with paper liners. In a dry ingredients bowl, sift flour, baking powder, and...

Get ready Moms! Our special day is right around the corner!!! Woohoo, it’s a day we are recognized for all of our hard work and don’t have to lift one finger, right? LOL. Who am I kidding? I do love Mother’s Day, but as you and I both know, Moms rarely take “the day off”. There is always work, dishes, or laundry to be done in my house. My favorite part of Mother’s Day are all of the handmade gifts and treats my 4 littles present to me.     The girls know how much I love my sweets and usually ask to help make something special in the kitchen for Mother’s Day.
